1. Los pronombres relativos

who: personas · which: cosas y animales · that: personas o cosas (solo en las defining) · where: lugares · whose: posesión · when: tiempo.

1Completa con who, which, where o whose: «The woman ____ lives next door is a doctor» · «That’s the restaurant ____ we had lunch» · «I have a friend ____ father is a pilot».

Ver solución

2Completa: «The bike ____ I bought last month is red» · «I’ll never forget the day ____ we moved to Bilbao».

Ver solución

2. Unir dos frases

3Une con un relativo: «I’ve got a cousin. She plays in a rock band».

Ver solución
I’ve got a cousin who plays in a rock band. She desaparece: el relativo ocupa su lugar.

3. Defining y non-defining relative clauses

7¿Defining o non-defining? Pon comas donde haga falta: «The students who passed the exam got a prize» · «Madrid which is the capital of Spain is very busy in summer».

· Non-defining: «Madrid, which is the capital of Spain, is very busy in summer».

She still drives».

Ver solución
My grandmother, who is 90, still drives.

«The film that we watched was boring» · «The man who called you is here».

Ver solución
· En la primera sí: The film we watched was boring.

4. Corregir y traducir

10Corrige: «Paris, that is the capital of France, is beautiful» · «The man who his car was stolen called the police» · «The girl which won the race is my neighbour».

Ver solución

Dudas frecuentes

La defining identifica: sin ella no sabríamos de qué se habla (The man who called you).

The song (that) I like. Si es el sujeto (The song that won), no se puede quitar.
