Ejercicios Resueltos de Reported Speech Inglés 4 ESO

Ejercicios de reported speech (estilo indirecto) de Inglés de 4º de ESO resueltos y explicados: cómo contar lo que otra persona ha dicho. Ejercicios de reported speech para 4º de ESO con soluciones

1. El retroceso de tiempos

Cuando el verbo que introduce va en pasado (said, told), el tiempo de la frase original retrocede un paso.

1Pasa a estilo indirecto: «I am really tired», said Pedro.

Pedro said (that) he was really tired.
am (present simple) → was (past simple), e I → he.

2Pasa a estilo indirecto: «We are watching a new series», they said.

Ver solución
They said (that) they were watching a new series.
Present continuous → past continuous.

3Pasa a estilo indirecto: «I have lost my wallet», Elena said.

Ver solución
Elena said (that) she had lost her wallet.
Present perfect → past perfect; my → her.


4Pasa a estilo indirecto: «I bought a laptop on Monday», Javi said.

Ver solución
Javi said (that) he had bought a laptop on Monday.
Past simple → past perfect (en la lengua hablada también se oye he bought).

5Pasa a estilo indirecto: «I will phone you» y «I can swim very well», dijo Rosa.

Ver solución
Rosa said (that) she would phone me. · Rosa said (that) she could swim very well.
will → would, can → could.

2. Pronombres, tiempo y lugar

6Pasa a estilo indirecto: «I’ll meet you here tomorrow», Carla told Diego.

Ver solución
Carla told Diego (that) she would meet him there the next day.
I → she, you → him, here → there, tomorrow → the next day (o the following day).

7¿En qué se convierten estas expresiones al pasar a estilo indirecto? now · today · yesterday · last week · this.

3. Say o tell

tell lleva siempre a quién se dice (told me); say va sin persona (o con to).

8Completa con said o told: «She ____ me the truth» · «He ____ that he was hungry» · «They ____ us to wait outside».

«She told me the truth» (hay persona: me) · «He said that he was hungry» · «They told us to wait outside».

4. Preguntas en estilo indirecto

Se pierde el orden de pregunta: sujeto + verbo, sin do / does / did y sin signo de interrogación. Las de sí o no llevan if o whether.

9Pasa a estilo indirecto: «Are you coming to the party?», Lola asked me.

Lola asked me if (whether) I was coming to the party.

10Pasa a estilo indirecto: «What time does the train leave?», he asked.

Ver solución
He asked what time the train left.
Desaparece does y el verbo pasa a pasado: ✗ what time did the train leave.

11Pasa a estilo indirecto: «Why did you leave so early?», my mother asked.

My mother asked me why I had left so early.

5. Órdenes y peticiones

Órdenes: told + persona + to + infinitivo; si son negativas, not to. Peticiones: asked + persona + to.

12Pasa a estilo indirecto: «Close the window», the teacher told us.

The teacher told us to close the window.

13Pasa a estilo indirecto: «Don’t touch the cables», the electrician said to us.

Ver solución
The electrician told us not to touch the cables.
La orden negativa se hace con not to, no con don’t.

14Pasa a estilo indirecto: «Could you help me, please?», Sofía asked Tom.

Sofía asked Tom to help her.

6. Reporting verbs

En vez de say o tell se puede usar un verbo que dice qué tipo de cosa se dijo. Cada uno lleva su estructura.

15Usa offer: «I’ll help you with your homework», my brother said.

My brother offered to help me with my homework.
offer + to + infinitivo.

16Usa suggest: «Let’s go to the cinema», Inés said.

Ver solución
Inés suggested going to the cinema. (o suggested that we went / should go).
⚠ ✗ suggested to go.

17Usa deny: «I didn’t break the vase», said Lucas.

Ver solución
Lucas denied breaking the vase. (o denied having broken).
deny + verbo en -ing.

18Usa advise: «You should rest more», the doctor told me.

Ver solución
The doctor advised me to rest more.
advise + persona + to + infinitivo.

19Usa apologise: «I’m sorry I’m late», said Clara.

Ver solución
Clara apologised for being late.
apologise for + -ing.

Dudas frecuentes

¿Siempre hay que cambiar el tiempo?

No. Si el verbo que introduce está en presente (He says…), el tiempo no cambia. Y si lo que se cuenta sigue siendo verdad, se puede mantener: She said that water boils at 100 °C.

¿Qué es un reporting verb?

Un verbo que sustituye a say o tell y resume la intención de quien habla: suggest (proponer), offer (ofrecerse), deny (negar), promise (prometer)… Cada uno pide una estructura concreta.
